Wakefield Books opened in February 2011 in the space formerly occupied by Waldenbooks. When Borders/Waldenbooks closed all of their stores, the mall owner and the staff came up with a plan to keep a bookstore in Wakefield, a bookstore that isn't bound by corporate restrictions, can listen to its customers, support local schools, and remain a part of its community. We love our store and we hope you will, too!
At Wakefield Books, we're proud to offer our community a thorough selection of bestsellers, plus a wide range of titles and categories. If we don’t have the book you’re looking for in stock, just ask our friendly staff and we can usually have it for you within three to four business days.
We comb the country for all those great bargain books we are known for, with a renewed focus on the interests of our local readers. Come browse our newly stocked shelves and attend one of our in-store author events. We pride ourselves in catering to the special interests of our community. If there is a title you’d like to see us carry, just let us know. If you're a member of a local book club, share your reading list with us and we'll make sure to have plenty of copies in stock.
Parents, teachers, and school librarians will find us as a great resource, with expanded children’s and education sections, as well as reference materials, workbooks, and test prep titles.
Wakefield Books offers a 20% classroom discount to teachers and is happy to accept purchase orders from local schools, as well as set up fundraisers. We will also carry the large selection of school summer reading titles you’ve come to expect.
We're not the biggest bookstore ever so we can't always carry everything our customers want, which is why we do special orders every day. Most arrive in just three to five business days. Looking for a hard-to-find title? Give us a try - we enjoy the challenge!
